Shauna and Stephen from (SHIH) assembled this beautiful package for a special project they are working on. They sourced some of the items from our shop, we love seeing the end result. See more photos of something’s hiding in here, here.

last day of august
Come on in, we’re open.
On Saturday we opened our shop for the first time. Stu and I were slightly nervous but very excited. So thankful to our friends and family who traveled up to Philly to celebrate – it was really a nice surprise to see familiar faces who have helped us so much along the way.
One of the best benefits of having a physical store is the ability to meet in-person customers who have shopped with us online through the years – names we recognize strictly from emails, notes and packing slips. We met some of them on Saturday and are truly grateful for their welcoming support.
We had homemade cookies (baked by our aunt) and even found a lucky praying mantis hanging out on our wall. All in all a good first day, thank you to all who have helped us make this come true.

Barney
Somewhere there’s a bunny heaven and there will be a big pile of hay and greens waiting for you. We love you so much, Barney. Give Gus a kiss for us. Rest in peace, sweet guy.
kids in an antique store
Our daily routine is so different now that we have a shop. We are still trying to find the right balance which we hope will become easier when we open the shop and have regular hours. I’ve been bringing the kids there as often as we can mostly the afternoons. They’ve already discovered their favorite neighborhood places – Chloe’s Corner an ice cream/water ice shop down the street and a great pub a block away called The Ugly Moose, they especially love that the pub lets us draw on their floors with chalk.
Otis has become a big helper and whenever he sees us doing work around the shop he likes to imitate us – carrying lumber around, sanding floors, cleaning and sweeping – he’s got a good work ethic. Stu has put Holly in charge of the penny candy section of the shop. We’ve told her she can “curate” the candy to sell. She’s very excited and has already made a handmade sign and has her favorite spot in the store – sitting behind the counter.
Sometimes we get nervous with them running around with all the antiques. But they’ve grown up surrounded by these things and playing with the occasional antique pedal car or vintage toy machine is pretty darn fun. There is a back room to the shop that we are going to dedicate to shipping and packing and also make it a hangout place for the kids afterschool. Stu is on the hunt for a skee-ball machine to put back there for them. Hmmm, I’m not so sure but maybe… I want this place to be as fun for them as it is for us.

The shop is coming along. With the help of generous family and friends we made a lot of progress in just two weeks. (Big thank-yous to Mike, Dave, Donovan, Brandon and Sam!) We’ve painted floors, added wood floors, stained, sanded, put up salvaged wood on some walls, extended a wall and added a window. We’re not done but almost there.
It’s so satisfying to put so much work into this space which we love – and to make it what we envisioned for Three Potato Four. Can’t wait for you to see it when it’s done.
