Americana Folk Art Correspondence Chess Board
Antique early twentieth century folk art double-sided Correspondence Chess Board. Correspondence chess allows people who are geographically distant to play one another without meeting in person. In the early twentieth century, players would make a single move, write it down in letter form and send it off via the postal system. This would go back-and-forth, move-by-move - taking up to a year or more to complete a single game. Board is double-sided, with one side containing the original handwritten moves in pencil of a previous game. Measures 13.5" x 13.5' x 1".
