Framed 60's Diner Placemat - "Money"
#Framed 60's
Growing up in Jersey, diners were a part of everyday life and created great memories for me (stu). Inspired by the diners I grew up with, I set out to collect old diner placemats. Each diner placemat is unique and has its own quirky way of sharing trivia and little-known facts.
This placemat, dated 1961 and entitled "Interesting Facts About Money", provides such factoids, did-you-know's and superstitions as:
- "Pin Money" is defined as the portion of a wife's allowance to be used for fancies and incidentals
- One billion dollars placed end to end would extend the distance of 96,670 miles
- A purse given as a gift should have a coin in it
- About 90% of all payments are made with checks, drafts, or money orders
- With one billion dollars you could buy 500,000 new automobiles each costing $2000
Placemats come in a clean and simple walnut wood frame ready for display.
