Framed 60's Diner Placemat - "Strange Eating Laws"
Growing up in Jersey, diners were a part of everyday life and created great memories for me (stu). Inspired by the diners I grew up with, I set out to collect old diner placemats. Each diner placemat is unique and has its own quirky way of sharing trivia and little-known facts.

This placemat, dated 1966 and entitled "Strange Eating Laws" is a perfect example of what diner placemat trivia should be. Includes, such factoids and did-you-know's as:

  • In Massachusetts, it is illegal to eat peanuts in church or use tomatoes in clam chowder
  • In Nebraska, it is illegal for tavern operators to sell beer unless they simultaneously are cooking soup
  • In Memphis, Tennessee, if a restaurant customer doesn't eat his pie, it must be destroyed in his presence, and he cannot be served bologna on Sunday
  • It is illegal to sell milk by the glass in San Francisco
  • Placemats come in a clean and simple walnut wood frame ready for display.
