Framed 70's Diner Placemat - "America's Endangered Species"
Growing up in Jersey, diners were a part of everyday life and created great memories for me (stu). Inspired by the diners I grew up with, I set out to collect old diner placemats. Each diner placemat is unique and has its own quirky way of sharing trivia and little-known facts.
This 1970's placemat entitled "America's Endangered Species" is a bit of a grim reminder of what's happening to our domestic animal friends. It's an awesome placemat overall, but every time I look at it I can't help but think, wow, the American Bison must have made quite a come back the last few decades to go from diner placemat to diner menu. What other animal can say that? Ostrich? I think not.
Endangered species of America listed include: American Bison (hey now!), Trumpeter Swan, Bald Eagle, Prairie Dog (really?), Black-footed ferret, American Alligator, Polar Bear, Whopping Crane, Prairie Chicken, Ivory-Billed Woodpecker and Atlantic Walrus.
Placemats come in a clean and simple walnut wood frame ready for display.
