U.S. Navy 5075 Dazzle Camouflage Original Drawings
Antique original custom-framed hand-drawn engineering blueprints for dazzle camouflage U.S. Navy 5075 ton Tanker circa 1940's - 1960's. Blueprint appears to be a preliminary drawing to indicate camouflage paint areas on the ship with penciled markings and notations indicating areas to revise. Dazzle Camouflage was used during World War I to confuse German U-boats as to the speed and direction of ships. Marked "Form No. 1, Navy Department, Bureau of C & R, Washington D.C." and signed at the bottom "J.W. Bennet, Naval Constructor, U.S.N." . Similar blueprints can be found at the Daniel S. Gregory Ships Plans Library at the Mystic Seaport. Frame shows wear and measures 17.75" x 34.25". Two prints available: Starboard Side and Port side.
